A Victorian Vision of 2000

In 1899, French artist Jean-Marc Côté produced the following visions of the year 2000. These illustrations were included in cigar and cigarette boxes and depict a future that’s definitely informed by Victorian technology (propellors anyone?).

Eighty-seven of these cards were produced and nearly a century later in 1986, they were compiled by Isaac Asimov and published in a book entitled Futuredays: A Nineteenth Century Vision of the Year 2000.
